THE BABYLON VILLAGE EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION
P.O. BOX 127 BABYLON, NY 11702
CREATED TO ENRICH PUBLIC EDUCATION
PURPOSE
The purpose of the BABYLON VILLAGE EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION is to foster a partnership among parents, schools, alumni, business and the entire community. The primary focus is to enhance and enrich the quality of education for each and every child in the Babylon Village Schools.
The BABYLON VILLAGE
EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION evolved after much research into the profiles of the types of
communities that receive grants for education. Many of the communities similar to the
demographic make up of our village have created school foundations. This kind of
foundation is a not-for-profit, tax exempt entity that can attract funds from individuals
and corporations while allowing the maximum tax deduction to the donor.
What this foundation
enables us to do is grow as a community. By creating it, we will be able to seek
and accept grants otherwise unavailable to us and provide a tax shelter for those
individuals wishing to make a contribution to our schools. The Foundation will provide a
focus for support to augment current and future needs and promote positive community /
school / staff relations.
PRESENT
Our village is a unique, caring
community. We want to be able to provide all our children with the best educational
opportunities available. The Foundation is seeking motivated and interested
community members to volunteer their time, expertise, ideas and financial support to this
worthwhile effort.
We currently have a very successful program called “Book Bags” which provides books and reading hours to preschoolers. It is designed to encourage both reading
and familiarity with the school environment, inviting our youngest community members into
the elementary school.
